St. Botolphs church, Botolphs, has now been accepted into the Churches Conservation Trust’s portfolio of Churches (CCT). This means that very soon it will cease to be a parish church. No objections were received during the consultation period and it will be vested late April/May.
This Sunday 3rd February at 10am there will be a final Parish service presided over by The Bishop of Chichester. All are invited to join us for this historic service.
Between now and April work will commence on restoring and repairing the building. The CCT plan to spend around £732,000 on this work.
In late April/May the parish will join again with the CCT for a formal service of handing over and of vesting this church. By this time the work will be completed and new signage etc will be in place.
Between then and now a committee will be formed to help run and manage St Botolphs. This committee will be very much like 'A friends' group. It will be part of the CCT and not the C of E. During the coming months members of the committee will be meeting with the CCT to be guided by them so that we can take advantage of their support and other benefits, e.g. insurance.
For anyone wishing to help by becoming a member of the committee please do get in touch with John Challis at The Rectory (contact details below). This will be a new beginning for St. Botolphs and we encourage anyone who thinks they may be able to help to contact John soon. This change of status will raise the profile of the church and bring many more visitors to the area.
